Hyderabad: Denying allegations that the Maoists had planned to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, revolutionary writer Varavara Rao on Friday said the discovery of the letter was nothing but a plant only to suppress the voices of activists fighting on behalf Dalits, Adivasis and minorities.

Varavara Rao said there was an attempt to implicate him in the case as the ‘letter’ mentioned Rao being given the responsibility of carrying out the PM assassination the way Rajiv Gandhi was eliminated in Tamil Nadu in the past. Rao said: “There is no chance of finding the letter in Rona Wilson’s laptop.

It was merely created/fabricated. It sounds even funny, when they said my name appeared in the alleged letter. This is a major conspiracy to suppress the voices.” The revolutionary writer said, “The BJP-led governments are arresting activists in the name of Maoists, as part of it, two days ago they have arrested Rona Wilson in Delhi, Mahesh Raut, Shoma Sen, and lawyer Surendra Gadling in Nagpur and Dalit activist Sudhir Dhawale in Bombay.”

When asked about whether the Maoist party has the capacity to assassinate the Prime Minister, he said, “Maoist party has to answer this. However, I don’t think they are capable of doing that,” he said.
