Hyderabad: Talks between the ministers’ committee and TSRTC union leaders remained inconclusive on Saturday as the government turned down the union’s demand for pay revision on par with other government employees. However, the government is working to find out an amicable solution by Sunday evening, as the unions have decided to go on strike from June 11.

The ministers’ committee members – Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and IT Minister KT Rama Rao and officials concerned held a meeting and discussed the demands raised by the unions. Earlier, Harish Rao in the capacity of honorary president of TMU (Telangana Mazdoor Union), which served the strike notice, met the union leaders separately.

The minister’s committee informed the union leaders that the government is not ready to accept the demand for pay hike which will put an additional burden of Rs 1,400 crore on the corporation every year. The ministers told the leaders that the Chief Minister is ready to hold talks if the strike notice was withdrawn. The CM has already warned that the employees who take part in the strike will be dismissed from service, on Thursday.

The union leaders were also demanding a pay hike as per the pay revision which is due since April 1, 2017. TMU leader Thomas Reddy said the union was also insisting on job security for the employees and stopping private operators from plying buses in the state.

As there was no outcome in the meeting, the ministers’ committee decided to hold another round of talks on Sunday. Officials said the ministers also met Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and informed about the meeting held with the union leaders.
