Huzurnagar : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that only Congress party has the capability to defeat BJP and oust Prime Mininster Narender Modi from power at the Centre.

Speaking during a grand Iftar hosted in his constituency Huzurnagar on Wednesday evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy said neither Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao's TRS nor Asaduddin Owaisi's MIM had the power or reach to defeat BJP at the national level. Therefore, he said Congress is the only alternate to BJP. Further, he said both BJP and MIM have supported the BJP directly and indirectly. He said KCR supported all the decisions like demonitisation and GST taken by Modi Government. Instead of supporting Babu Jagjivan Ram's daughter Meira Kumar in the President's election or backing Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Gopal Gandhi in Vice President's election, KCR supported BJP candidates. Similarly, MIM contested elections all across the country and helped BJP win those polls by dividing secular votes, he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BJP Government has inculcated a sense of fear and insecurity among minorities, especially Muslims. People were targeted for what they eat, what they wear or whom they marry. Mob lynching to target innocent minorities was patronised by the BJP Government, he said while accusing Sangh Parivar of raising small issues out of proportion. He only Congress Government at the Centre could put an end to such religious discrimination.

The TPCC chief also slammed KCR for not fulfilling the promises of giving 12% reservation to Muslims in jobs and education. He said KCR had promised to implement the 12% Muslim quota within four months after coming to power. However, even after four years, it remained unimplemented. KCR has now even stopped talking about it, he said adding that that the TRS Government has openly cheated the Muslims on several counts. He said neither the Wakf Board was granted promised judicial powers nor a single inch of encroached land has been restored.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also listed out various measures that he implemented for the welfare of minorities in his Huzurnagar constituency. He said all problems being faced by Muslims in Huzurnagar and Kodad constituencies were attended to. He assured that the Congress party would continue to protect the rights of minorities, especially Muslims in Telangana State.

The Iftar party was also attended by TPCC Vice-President Abid Rasool Khan, ex-chairman of Wakf Board Khusro Biyabani, GHCC Minorities Dept chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail and other senior leaders.
