​Hyderabad: In a turn of events, boys outshined girls in the Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test -2018 (TSICET-2018) for taking admission into MBA and MCA courses for the academic year 2018-19.

Announcing the results here on Wednesday, Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) Chairman Prof T Papi Reddy, TSICET-2018 Chairman and Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University Prof Sayanna and Convener Prof M Subrahmanya Sarma said that boys bagged nine out of top 10 ranks in the examination.

Releasing the results, Prof T Papi Reddy said that Satya Adithya Thati from Hyderabad had secured the first rank scoring 164.2 marks, followed by Yelchuri Sai Sandeep from city bagging the second rank with 163.9 marks.

Gade Naveen Kumar from Kapra from the city has scored 162.7 securing the third rank and Seemakurthi Lakshmi Sravanthi from Khammam Urban bagged the fourth rank scoring 161.2 marks.

Apart from her, Maruthi Soumya from Suryapet with 13 and Donthi Ninisha Reddy with 19 ranks were the other two among girls who stood among the top 20 rankers. Prof R Sayanna said that a total of 61,439 were registered for the TSICET-2018.

Out this, 55,191 candidates had taken the examination which was held in online mode for two days on May 23 and 24, at 67 test centres in 14 regional centres in three sessions. Out of the 55,191 candidates appeared for the examination, 49,812 candidates were qualified registering a 90.25 overall pass percentage, he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said most of the students who were qualified in the examinations were those who had done B Sc and BBA courses at undergraduate level. For the first time, the examination was also conducted in Urdu medium and 32 students had registered to take the test in that medium, he added.

Counselling for the admissions would be taken up after the finalisation of the affiliation process of the colleges. Till last year there were 305 colleges in the State offering MBA and MCA.

Meanwhile, responding to a question, Prof Papi Reddy said that the TSCHE had issued guidelines with regard to admissions into the engineering colleges. And, anyone found violating the norms would have to face stringent action, he clarified.
