Keshav Rao Jadhav, 86, retired English professor from Osmania University and early proponent of Telangana statehood passed away on Saturday. He was cremated at Amberpet graveyard in the evening. Jadhav is survived by wife and three daughters. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son and IT Minister KT Rama Rao expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. 

​Hyderabad: Keshav Rao Jadhav, 86, retired English professor from Osmania University and early proponent of Telangana statehood passed away on Saturday. He was cremated at Amberpet graveyard in the evening. Jadhav is survived by wife and three daughters. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son and IT Minister KT Rama Rao expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.

CM recalled and remembered his services in achieving Telangana State. Jadhav's health was not well for quite some time and he was admitted to a private hospital in Barkatpura on Friday due to respiratory related problems. However, he died while undergoing treatment around 11.30 am.

Keshav Rao Jadhav was born on January 27, 1933 in Hussaini Alam in Old city. He played a proactive role in 1969 Telangana agitation and also during the renewed phase of agitation till achievement of state in 2014. He worked with the likes of Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar and Prof Kodandaram for Telangana cause.

Jadhav was associated with People’s Union of Civil Liberties under which he fought for justice for downtrodden sections of the society. He participated in Mulki agitation in 1952 as a student. He even went to jail during the Emergency period. Jadhav, who was a follower of Ram Manohar Lohia, lived as a socialist all his life. He did his bit for socialist movement in his own State and rest of the country.

The retired professor's body was shifted from hospital to his residence in DD colony, near OU in the afternoon. TJS chief M Kodandaram, former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Congress senior leader K Jana Reddy, ex-MLC and TJS leader K Dileep and OU students among others paid respects to the departed soul.

Last rites were performed at Amberpet burial ground in the evening. Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, balladeer Gaddar and several others were in attendance.
