The 2017 batch 11 IAS probationers, allotted to Telangana cadre, visited the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) here on Wednesday.
Hyderabad : The 2017 batch 11 IAS probationers, allotted to Telangana cadre, visited the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) here on Wednesday.
They met University Registrar Dr. S. Sudheer Kumar and other officers of the PJTSAU. Dr. Kumar gave a briefing about the university activities to IAS probationers in a meeting organized at committee hall in Administrative office at Rajendranagar. He explained about the teaching, research and extension mandate of the university. "University is striving hard to provide quality education to the students and ensure profitable agriculture to the farmers of Telangana" he said.
He informed that after formation of PJTSAU three new agricultural colleges were started in Palem, Warangal and Siricilla. Within the short span of three years, the university has bagged best ranks among agricultural universities in the country and stood 12th in the country in the ranks given by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research(ICAR).
Dr. Jagadeeshwar, Director of Research, explained about the university research activities which are mainly focused on crop improvement, large scale seed production, crop management, management of pest & diseases, etc.,
Dr. KS Dangi, Dean of Agriculture, gave the details on courses offered in university at undergraduate and PG level. Dr. D Raji Reddy, Director of Extension, explained about the university extension system. He added that the extension job of the university scientists is mainly to demonstrate the technologies developed by the research wing of the PJTSAU.
