Thousands of people participated in International Yoga Day celebrations across the district on Thurday. Various government and non-government organizations and institutions conducted programmes to mark the occasion. Particularly in schools, students eagerly participated in yoga programmes held on their campuses.

Kothagudem: Thousands of people participated in International Yoga Day celebrations across the district on Thurday. Various government and non-government organizations and institutions conducted programmes to mark the occasion. Like past years , the Singareni Collieries Company Limited this year also celebrated International Yoga Day at a grand scale and organised yoga programmes at its various centres and locations. A large number of company staff member s and workers participated in the programmed.

For this very day, the SCCL had been conducting yoga trainng classes for five days in mines and offices and clubs from morning to evening for the staff members and workers. As many as 1,20,076 staff members participated in the event held in the SCCL areas.

According to the press note issued on Thursday, 9319 staff members from corporate(Kothagudem) area, while in KTDM (12,356), Yellandhu(8,362), Manchiriyal(10,680), Belampally( 7224), Sri Rampur( 16,200) , Mandamarri(16,182), Ramagundam -1 (11,324), Ramagundam -2 (8000), Ramagundam -3 (10,515), Belampally (15,364) and NTPP area 550 members attended the yoga programme and performed Yogasanas.

The programme was held in all areas of SCCL grounds, mining places, school campuses, and in the sheds. The workers, staff members and children participated in those programmes with enthusiasm. The programme was conducted from10 am to 11 am. On Thursday, a big rally was conducted in the coal town Kothagudem. The rally was inaugurated by SCCL Director S.Shanker.

Speaking on the occasion, he told people about the importance of yoga and how it is helping people for good living. Yoga reduces stress and gives relief from pain if man performs yoga. SCCL chairmen N.Sridhar congratulated people for making the programme successful and said the company created a new record as more people participate din the programme as compared to last year.

A tolal of 1,20,076 persons performed yoga in all area of the Singareni. He thanked the participants and organizers for the smooth conduct of the programme. General Manager B.Bhasker Rao, Anand Rao and Officers B.R.Deekshithulu, MRGK Murthy, Some Reddy and other participated in the programme.
