Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee meeting on Thursday witnessed heated discussions on various issues of the party where senior leaders questioned the attitude of the State leadership.

The meeting was held in an emergency after senior leaders of the State Congress went to Delhi and tried to make allegations against the PCC. TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy called the meeting to discuss the issues. Party State affairs in-charge RC Khuntia was present.

The meeting was not attended by MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. According to sources, about 150 leaders of the PCC have been invited for the meeting. Party leaders said that it was held on the directions of the high command. Party legislator DK Aruna expressed her anger over the affairs in the organisation. She expressed her displeasure over the manner of admitting other party leaders into the Congress. According to sources, she said that though leaders of Mahabubnagar district wanted the PCC to discuss admission of MLA A Revanth Reddy and former BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy into the party, they were inducted without any talks.

She said that the party had ignored the services of leaders who have laid the foundations of the party. The party did not try to pacify MLC Damodar Reddy, who was sore at admitting Janardhan Reddy. PCC did not take any steps to prevent him from crossing over to Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

She said that the PCC has promised party tickets to Revanth and Janardhan Reddy without a survey on their chances of win in their respective constituencies.

Former MP V Hanumantha Rao questioned Delhi tour of the party leaders without informing the PCC president. MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that such tours should help promote the party.

The meeting has resolved to fight for the implementation of promises made to Telangana in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. A resolution being proposed by Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy was endorsed by the PCC.

Informing the details of the deliberations in the meeting, PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the PCC has identified the works of the party to be completed in the State on war footing.

He said that the last date to complete booth-level registration through Shakthi App would be June 30. Though the PCC had discussed appointment of district committees to the newly-formed districts, no decision has been taken.

Party affairs in-charge Khuntia said that the Congress would wage a fight against the corruption taking place in the irrigation projects. The Congress would oppose taking away of lands from tribals besides taking up protests for protection of rights of SCs, STs, minorities, BCs and other sections.

Khuntia said that the leaders who visited Delhi have went there to greet party president Rahul Gandhi on his birthday and not to lodge complaints against Uttam. He made it clear that Uttam would continue as president of the PCC and Congress would fight next elections under his leadership.
