Khammam: Cordon and search operations are aimed at keeping a check on anti-social activities, providing safety for the people and maintaining law and order, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Thirupathi here in Khammam on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) K Suresh Kumar on Friday led 120 police personnel in conducting cordon search operations at Mekala Narayana Nagar under Three Town Police Station in the early hours.

Speaking on the occasion, the DCP said the cordon and search operations were conducted on the orders of Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal.
He advised the people to be cautious while purchasing second-hand vehicles from unknown persons. They should not purchase the vehicles without verifying documents. If they buy such vehicles they would face problems, he said.

The police seized 20 two-wheelers, five auto-rickshaws and a jeep as the owners could not produce valid documents for them. The police also took three persons for interrogation and 80 liquor bottles.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkatarao, ACP (Task force) Rehaman, Circle Inspectors Ramesh, Raji Reddy, Venkanna Babu, Anjali, Task Force CI’s Anjaneyulu, Karunakar, Sub-inspectors and about 120 police personnel participated in the operations.
