Hyderabad: Hardly 24 hours after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao hinted early elections, the ruling TRS and the main opposition Telangana Congress got into action mode to face the polls anytime. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) held a day- long meeting attended by Congress in-charge RC Khuntia and senior leaders to chalk out an action plan to dethrone the ruling TRS.

While sending a strong signal that TRS is determined to defeat Congress in the next elections, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao decided to embark on a visit to the assembly constituencies represented by senior Congress leaders and districts where the opposition is strong.

In a quick response to KCR’s challenge to Congress to face early elections, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy tweeted his party is ready to fight elections and defeat the TRS as people are already vexed with KCR’s rule.

To begin with, KCR will take up a day-long yatra in Gadwal Jogulamba district on June 29. The particular district was considered as the fortress of the senior-most Congress leader DK Aruna. He will visit Thumilla lift irrigation schemes taken up in the district and also lay foundation stone for the Gattu lift irrigation scheme. A mammoth public meeting is also orgnaised in Aruna’s home town Gadwal on the same day. A group of Congress leaders are expected to join TRS during the meeting.

TRS leaders said that KCR wanted to register a thunderous victory in all assembly segments from where the Congress senior leaders elected and maintained stronghold.

Huzurnagar assembly constituency represented by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Nalgonda (Komtireddy Venkatreddy), Nagarjunasagar (K Jana Reddy), Jagtiyal (T Jeevan Reddy), Kodangal (A Revanth Reddy) and Zaheerabad (J Geeta Reddy) have been considered as Congress strongholds.

KCR instructed the district authorities and ministers to sanction development schemes in the Congress dominated assembly constituencies liberally. In a bid to appease people of Uttam’s constituency, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao announced local developmental schemes worth Rs 70 crore. Leaders said that KCR will visit all assembly segments and launch the schemes taken up in the Congress dominated areas.

To counter KCR’s politics of encouraging defections into his party, the TPCC decided to hold regular meetings in assembly constituencies and strengthen the party under the supervision of the three AICC secretaries appointed recently.

Khuntia made it clear that party will fight elections under Uttam’s leadership only and that the party was ready for early elections.Uttam pointed out that “no one will stop KCR from submitting his resignation to Governor if the CM is ready for early polls”. He exuded confidence that Congress will secure maximum number of seats and form the next government with effortless ease.
