The bodies of Shankunthla and her son Mallikarjun were shifted to their native place in Andhra Pradesh for last rites. The graveyard echoed with cries of the bereaved family members. Husbands of the deceased Bandarapu Swaroopa and Kavitha, Shekar and Srinu respectively, who are working in Dubai arrived Vemulakonda and participated in the last rites of their wives.

Youth associations of surrounding villages of Vemulakonda arranged meals and water facility to victims’ families and their kin. Several political leaders visited Vemulakonda and expressed deep condolence to the victims’ families and demanded the State government for justice.

Former MLC Cherupally Seetha Ramulu, MRPS founder president Manda Krishna Madiga, TJS president Prof Kodandaram, AICC member Gudur Naryana Reddy, NRI Solipuram Srikamth Reddy, Mala Mahanadu national leader Chennaiah and Telangana Jagruthi State vice president Rajiv Sagar met the victims’ families and expressed their grief over the tragic incident.

Prof Kodandaram demanded that the State government pay compensation to the victims’ families as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court. NRI Srikanth Reddy gave Rs 10,000 aid to each victims’ family.

Choutuppal ACP Raja Ramesh, along with Ramannapet CI Srinivas and Valigonda CI Ali looked after the security arrangements to avoid any untoward incidents during the last rites of the accident victims at Vemulakonda.
