Karimnagar: Saakshar Bharat Mission Coordinators’ Union district president Gangadhar Ramesh on Monday demanded that the government must pay equal money for equal work along with providing job security.

The Union members of united Karimnagar district, who have been staging relay hunger strike for 21 days demanding the government solve their issues at the Collectorate here, reached 22nd day.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh said that the coordinators of Saakshar Bharath Mission (SBM) are playing a key role in taking various welfare schemes, introduced by both State and Central governments, to each and every section of people.

In Singapur and Chinnapapaiahpalli villages of Huzurabad mandal, 100 per cent literacy rate among the people, who crossed 50 years of age, was achieved with the efforts of SBM coordinators along with 70 per cent literacy rate in united Karimnagar district.

The mandal and village coordinators of SBM are facing lot of problems with minimum wages and without any job security. He demanded the government continuation of SBM under the State government along with implementing equal work equal pay for the coordinators and by transforming the adult education centers into mini libraries.

Ramesh urged District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed to take initiation for solving the problems of the coordinators by taking the issue to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The members of Saakshar Bharat Mission Coordinators’ Union Pingali Sammaiah, Ramana, Lakshmi, Vijaya Durga, Anitha, Padma, Nagamani, Srinivas, Shwetha, Sampath, Sudhakar, Thirupathi, Sri Latha and Veeraiah were present along with MCOs and VCOs of Huzurabad mandal.
