Nalgonda: Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy here on Tuesday directed the officials to give top priority to provide drinking water to each and every household in Devarakonda and Mungodu Assembly constituencies under Mission Bhagiratha programme.

The Minister along with District Collector held a review meeting on the progress of Mission Bhagiratha works at the D0istrict Collectorate meeting hall here.

The officials explained to the Minsiter that the works are progressing at brisk pace under Akkempally Balancing Reservoir segment, Tail Pond segment and Udaysamudram reservoir in Nalgonda segment.

Yadadri- Bhongir district RWS Superintending Engineer Yesu Ratnam said under AKBR reservoir, out of 1,003 habitations in Nagarjunasagar, Devarakonda, Munugodu constituencies, works of 740 habitations were successfully completed and works are in progress in the remaining 263 habitations.

Nalgonda RWS Superintending Engineer Madhu Babu said under Udaya Samudram Segement works are in progress to provide drinking water to 471 habitations. Drinking water at the rate of 29 litres per head per day has been provided from 59 MLD water treatment plant.

Construction of two more water treatment plants with a capacity 29 MLD and 35 MLD is progressing a brisk pace, he said. After completion of the plants, drinking water at the rate of 100 litres per head per day would be supplied, he said. Officials explained that works like filter beds, electrical works are yet to be completed under Tail Pond segment.

The Minister directed the officials to complete all the pending works by July 15. District Collector Gaurav Uppal directed the officials engineers to coordinate with each other to complete the works of Mission Bagiratha on schedule.

RWS Chief Engineer Vijay Prakash, ZP Chairman Balu Naik Munugode MLA K.Prbhakar Reddy, RWS Executive Engineer Papa Rao and officials of various departments participated.
