Hyderabad: In order to satisfy the hunger pangs of people visiting the famous Taramati Baradari, the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation has decided to have food stalls of Hyderabadi Biryani, KFC Chicken, pizza etc at the historical place. The Corporation has taken the decision owing to increasing influx of tourists and mushrooming of residential colonies around its vicinity.

The Taramati Baradari was constructed on the banks of Musi River. According to legend, the seventh Sultan of Golconda, Abdullah Qutub Shah, had dedicated this to his favourite courtesan Taramati. The historical Sarai pavilion has 12 doorways and was constructed to allow cross ventilation. It is one of the most indigenous techniques to have been used at that time. The open pavilion includes other facilities like an air-cooled theatre with the capacity of 500 people, an open-air auditorium with the capacity of 1,600 people, banquet hall with a capacity of 250.

According to an official from Tourism Corporation, the place has been abuzz with influx of tourists who generally visit the historical Golconda Fort. Until now, there was no provision of food, except the snacks at the venue. However, with increased activity and also the residential colonies coming up in the vicinity, the Corporation has decided to generate revenue through food stalls. The food stalls would give better options providing varieties with quality to tourists visiting the fort.

The official said that the area now has good number of duplex houses in the vicinity where food items like Hyderabadi Biryani and other would be a hit. Generally, the rush is good during weekdays, but during weekends it swells, said the official.

Telangana Tourism Corporation Managing Director B Manohar said that soon people would have a wide variety of food at the venue. Apart from Hyderabadi Biryani, the venue would have KFC Chicken, Pizza, Karachi biscuits, McDonalds etc. Unlike earlier when the stalls used to be for limited time, the Corporation wants the stalls to function for 365 days in a year. Proposal has been prepared and tenders would be called soon for starting these outlets, said Manohar.
