​Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has come out with a proposal to build “Urban Telangana” on a mission mode with an investment of Rs 55,000 crore in the coming three years. A total of Rs 45,000 crore will be spent in Hyderabad alone to promote the State capital a world-class global city.

At a review meeting on development programmes and infrastructure facilities in towns and cities with officials at Pragathi Bhavan here, the Chief Minister said that remaining Rs 10,000 crore would be earmarked for the development of other Municipal Corporation areas and municipalities. “Urban Telangana programme should be taken up on a mission mode,” he added.

KCR instructed the officials concerned to prepare an action plan for taking up of development works in Hyderabad and other cities. He said there is no dearth of funds. “Special focus and attention is required to develop Municipal Corporations in the State continuously during the next three years.

Roadways, parks, tanks, drainage canals etc are to be developed tremendously. In accordance with the action plan to be prepared for all types of construction and development programmes, he said the development of towns and cities should be planned and illegal layouts are to be viewed seriously.

It should be made mandatory to have a provision for every layout for green cover. Efforts are to be made to keep the tanks clean. The reservoirs of Gandipet, Himayatsagar and Hussainsagar are to be filled with Godavari water.

The Chief Minister said care should also be taken that the drainage water would not flow into the tanks. Sewerage treatment plants are to be arranged to clean the drainage water. Every town and city should have a developmental plan to suit its requirements. he said.
