Bhongir: Bhongir MP Boora Narsaiah Goud here on Tuesday exhorted the officials to work for eradication of tuberculosis (TB). He also appealed to the people’s representatives to take part in the programme to make India free from TB.

Narasaiah Goud, who is the Convenor for Parliamentary Committee to Prevent Tuberculosis, was inaugurating a workshop on TB eradication here.
Speaking on the occasion, Narasaiah Goud said “The TB spreads through the air from one person to another.

It can be cured easily by diagnosing at an early stage. If cough persists more than two weeks, people must consult the nearest doctor and get health check up to find out whether they have TB or not.”

The Central government was providing medicine to TB patients through mobile vans and also depositing Rs 500 per month in bank account of them to get nutritious food.

District Collector Anitha Ramachandran, in her speech, said on an average as many as 10,000 people across the nation were falling prey to the TD in the country.

As per the District Medical and Health officials data, there were 680 TB patients in the district and they were being provided with medicines. MLC A Krishna Reddy, Tungaturthi MLA Gadari Kishore, Parliamentarian from Delhi Dr Madan Mohan Sharma, official and people’s representatives participated in the programme.
