Bhongir: Bhongir Muncipal Chairperson Survi Lavanya here on Tuesday was voted out by floor test. The TRS, TDP, CPI-M and two dissident BJP councillors moved a no-confidence motion against the Chairperson who belonged to the BJP.
Nine of the 30 councillors abstained. All the 21 members, belonging to the TRS, TDP, Congress, CPI-M and BJP dissident councillors, besides MLA Shekar Reddy and MLC Krishna Reddy, voted in favour of the no-trust motion, according to Election Officer M V Bhoopal Reddy.
Lavanya, who was elected on BJP ticket, had shifted her loyalty to the TRS. She returned to the BJP recently. Angered over her rejoining the BJP, the TRS and other parties moved no-confidence motion against her. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers to prevent any untoward incident.
