Kothagudem: Rythu Bima, the life insurance scheme for farmers, has been kicked off with public representatives, MLAs and government officials organising meetings in different parts of the district to give away the policy bonds to the eligible farmers. The scheme will be applicable from August 15.

The farmers in the age group of 18 to 59 years will get an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh each. The premium per head has been pegged at Rs 2,271.
As part of the programme, the district Revenue and Agriculture officers participated in the programme with the local MLAs on Sunday.

The district administration has identified 52,000 famers under the scheme of the Rythu Bheema, according to the insurance department. The distribution of bonds will be concluded on 13th of this month.

Speaking to the The Hans India, the District Agriculture Officer Abhimanydu said “the district administration has identified 52,000 farmers under the scheme. The distribution programme started on Monday will conclude August 13 and the scheme will come into effect from August 15.”

In Annapareddy Palle, the officials identified 986 eligible farmers, Aswarao Pet(1,407), Chandra Gonda (1,477), Dhammapet (3,445), Mulkalapalli (897), Bhadrachalam (50), Charla (1,705), Dummugudem (1,032), Chunchupally (250), Kothagudem (116), Laxmidevi Pally (733), Palwancha (2,442), Sujath Nagar (1,813), Allapally (1,145), Aswapuram (2,290), Burgampahad (2,309), Gundala (2,308), Karakagudem (1,023), Manuguru (783), Pinapaka (989), Julupadu (2,864), Tekulapally (1,763) and Yellandu (943).

The farmers who die in the accident or some other reason will get benefit under the scheme the agrniculture officer said. His family will get Rs 5 lakh on his death.

Speaking on the occasion, Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao said Chief Minister K Chadrasekhar Rao has proved that farmer is the king by implementing such schemes.

Expressing his happiness, farmer A Satyanarayana Murthy said, “it is a very good scheme for us. Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao is taking good initiatives for the welfare of farmers.”
