​Hyderabad: A Lambada woman Kesli Bai stole the show during an interaction with Congress president Rahul Gandhi at Classic Convention Centre at Shamshabad on Monday as she was invited on to the dais by AICC President. During the interaction, Kesli Bai alleged that the SHGs were grossly neglected by the government in the past four years. She said that the work of the SHGs was not recognised by the present government.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao did not care for the members of the SHGs in the past four years. With your visit confidence has returned to us,” said Kesli Bai, who came from Maddur of old Mahbubnagar district. Impressed by her comments, Rahul Gandhi invited her on to the stage and had a photo with her. Rahul promised that if Congress forms government at the Centre and State they would take care of SHGs. “I will take personal interest in their well-being apart from the Chief Minister,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi arrived in Hyderabad after his tour in Karnataka at around 3:30 pm. He reached the Classic Convention Centre at 4:00 pm and had an interaction with the SHGs for about an hour. He was greeted by local Congress leaders at Shamshabad village in big numbers. Party workers from neighbouring areas gathered in big numbers at the village to welcome Rahul.
However, the Congress faced problems during the tour of Rahul on Monday. Many party leaders were denied entry into Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Though about 150 leaders were given passes, they were issued after 2:00 pm whereas Rahul was scheduled to arrive at 2:30 pm.
Due to this several leaders failed to meet Rahul at the airport. Handful of leaders were permitted to meet him at the airport. The passes being issued for the media persons for the interaction programme at Shamshabad were also given late and the media was unable to reach airport.
The police denied passes to the media persons for the public meeting at Serilingampally. Rahul Gandhi arrived in Hyderabad for two days visit to Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts on Monday and Tuesday respectively. Rahul Gandhi faced dialect problem while his interaction with the SHG women. When TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy was addressing, he asked MLA Sampath to translate the speech. Along with Sampath, Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali also translated the speech for Rahul.
