Mahbubnagar: With the newly constructed underpass near Rajapur railway station in Rajapur mandal is having slope from all sides. The recent heavy rains have flooded the underpass blocking the road connecting villages of Mallepally and Ediganipally.

With this the people of these villages are facing tough time to cross the knee-deep water. In fact, earlier, i.e. before the underpass was constructed, there used to be a railway gate. However, with many accidents occurred at the gate, the Railway department constructed an underpass so to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow for the villagers.

But now this underpass has been filled with rainwater and it is creating problems for the commuters. “The railway people had constructed the underpass but they have not built seepage vents or constructed drainage to let the rainwater go. Because of their unmindful way of planning now this bridge has become irrelevant with the water stagnation,” said Narender Goud from Rajapur mandal.

The people of the villages are now demanding the railway officials to immediately construct outward drains so that in future even if rains heavily the underpass should not get submerged and all water must be let out through dedicated vents or drains.
