Hyderabad: Telangana Congress treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Sunday has strongly condemned BJP government at the centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for adopting an ‘inhuman’ approach by not extending the required aid to flood-hit Kerala.

“Kerala has suffered losses to the tune of nearly Rs 19,512 crore in the catastrophic flood. As against the demand for immediate assistance of Rs 2,000 crore for relief and rehabilitation measures, the Prime Minister has offered a mere Rs 500 crore. This is nothing but ‘inhuman’ approach towards the victims,” Narayana Reddy said in a media statement.

The Congress leader said, so far, more than 324 people were reported dead and thousands were still trapped in flood water. “PM Modi is apparently trying to punish the people of Kerala who do not align with the hate agenda of BJP. This is completely unacceptable in a democracy.

Modi must realise that he is the PM for the entire country and not just BJP-ruled States," he said. He also slammed the BJP leaders for showering praise on Prime Minister for walking 6-km in the funeral procession of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and then proceeding to Kerala for an aerial survey of flood affected areas.
