Godavarikhani: District Collector A Devasena said that journalists have a unique ability to introduce and promote the talented people to the world. She inaugurated the Varthalap, a media workshop for rural journalists, here at Yellendu Guest House at on Thursday. The workshop was orgnised by the Press Information Bureau, Hyderabad. She said that change in society is possible with the efforts of the journalists. She advised journalists to act cautiously while dealing with sensitive issues.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of operations, Singareni Collieries Company Limited said that scribes should maintain accuracy than speed. He recollected the events of 1998, when SCCL was almost broke, the journalists reported the real stories that prompted Central government to act and rescue company.

The additional Director General, PR T Vijaykumar Reddy said that journalist should maintain restraint and see that rumours do not spread. He said that the workshop is being conducted to train the rural journalist and inculcate skills. He said that three such workshops have been organised in the coal belt so far.

The PRO of SCCL Mahesh said that the department of press relations of the company has been updating time to time. Senior journalist Sudhakar Reddy, former chairman of press academy T Surender, principal of Rachana School of Journalism Umamaheswara Rao, retired director of DD Bakar Mirza spoke about the trends in journalism.

RG-1 deputy personal manager Gangadhar supervised the arrangements of the workshop. RG_1 GM Manohar, RG-2 Suryanarayana, Adriyala Project GM Veerareddy, PIB deputy director Ratnakr, RG-SO to GM Tyagaraju, DGM (Personal) Hanmantha Rao and others were present.
