Medak: Krishnashtami celebrations got off to a colorful start here on Monday, with children dressed as Lord Krishna, ‘Yashoda’ and ‘Gopikas’ hogging are the limelight. A ‘Shoba Yatra’ was taken out to mark the festivities. Pippiri Chandrasekhar, Superintendent, Medak Government Hospital, who was the chief guest at the yatra, observed that work of the Saraswathi Shishu Mandirs was reflecting the age-old cultural

He called for discipline among students and advised teachers to take up topics which interest students. “The teachers should inculcate traditional culture among students at a young age. Parents should, keeping the interest of their wards, mould them as doctors, engineers, scientists and sportspersons. Students should at least once a week visit temples, as to get a strong memory power with devotion as to be on the path of progress”, Chandrasekhar emphasised.

Among the participants were Principal Sudharani Acharya and her team, students and parents. Students of Sai Seva Samiti Balavikas, Fathenagar, worshipped Lord Krishna as part of the celebrations. Shoba Yatras were taken out in Muthaikota, Sangaipet, Ramayampet, Toopran areas. Devotees took part in ‘uttikotte’ event. Teachers enlightened their students with tales of Lord Krishna.
