Hyderabad: Even as caretaker Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had announced the names of candidates for 105 Assembly seats, party leaders say that some of the candidates had no popular support and they may end up losing the election.

Many senior party leaders, however, are hoping that some of the candidates are dummies and there is a scope for changes in the list announced by the party chief. The leaders are now requesting party leadership to reconsider its decision.

Sources in the party said that the leaders at local level have raised doubts on the chances of the candidates announced by the party leadership. The TRS leaders who have been with the party and got raw deal this time because of the allotment of tickets to turncoats are also causing a lot of heart burn. Surprising everyone, KCR last week announced candidates for 105 seats.

According to the party leaders, the announcement of candidates for several seats raises doubts. A TRS leader pointed out that the announcement of B Subhash Reddy as candidate from Uppal was a surprising move by the party leadership. Subhash Reddy is not a strong candidate and it would in turn benefit the sitting BJP MLA, said the TRS leader.

He said that candidate like Mayor B Rammohan would have been an ideal choice to win the Uppal seat. Similarly, the leaders in L B Nagar constituency also wanted a strong leader to fight against D Sudheer Reddy of the Congress. The leaders said that Ram Mohan Goud may not ensure the victory and needs to be changed.

The case of the leaders who have been with the party and lost the previous elections are also said to be unhappy this time as the turncoats have taken their opportunity. For example, in the Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency, G Sayanna won on the TDP ticket.

Later, Sayanna joined the TRS and now got the ticket from the constituency. TRS in-charge G Nagesh, who contested unsuccessfully from here rued before his followers that he had lost with a margin of just 3,000 votes last time and he would have won with the popularity of the government schemes this time.

Similarly, there are many leaders of other parties, who had joined the ruling party are now in a dilemma over the declaration of tickets. Ramesh Rathod of the TDP, who joined the TRS recently, expected a ticket for Khanapur but the TRS chief retained the ticket to sitting MLA Ajmeera Rekha Naik.

The former TDP leader is said to be upset with this and is seriously looking at alternatives like joining the Congress, TJAC or others. Already, the Konda couple Surekha and Muralidhar Rao have decided to join the Congress.
