Nagarkurnool: Even before the people could recover from the shock of Kondagattu bus accident on Tuesday, which claimed 52 lives, another bus accident took place on Sunday in Bijnepally mandal in the district, injuring over 20 persons.
The only solace is that there are no fatalities, though five of the injured are in critical condition.
An overcrowded TSRTC bus belonging to Yadagirigutta depot skidded off the road when the two front wheels of the vehicle came off, causing injuries to 20 passengers, five of them seriously.
The accident took place near Vattem village this morning, when around 100 passengers were travelling in the bus which was going to Wanaparthy.
Both the front wheels of the bus burst, pushing the bus of the-road. As the alert driver applied brakes, the bus hit at tree and stopped.
Most of the passengers travelling in the bus were youngsters who were on their way to examination centers to appear for VRO and VRA examinations.
Reports said that about 30 youngsters were traveling on the top of the mus, as there was no space inside. The injured persons were shifted to Nagarkurnool Area Hospital, and five of them whose condition was critical, were shifted to NIMs in Hyderabad for treatment.
Roads and Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy expressed his anguish over such accidents repeatedly taking place in the State.
He directed officials to take action against drivers and conductors who were flouting the rules. He also asked the officials to see that proper treatment is rendered to the injured.
