Warangal: Instead of expressing condolences over the death of Peramalla Pranay Kumar of Miryalaguda on his twitter handle, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao should ensure punishment to those, who killed him (Pranay), Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi president Manda Krishna Madiga demanded.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he urged the government to order an inquiry into the killing of Pranay by a sitting High Court judge. It may be mentioned here that 23-year-old Pranay of Dalit community was hacked to death in broad daylight in a suspected incident of honour killing at Miryalaguda of Nalgonda district.

“The accused Maruthi Rao, father of Amrutha Varshini, who married to Pranay, is rich and has links with top leaders irrespective of party affiliations has every chance of escaping from the clutches of law,” he said. Instead of taking to his twitter handle, KTR would have suspended Maruthi Rao from the TRS, he added.

Manda Krishna said that police failed to protect Pranay despite the fact that Maruthi Rao was likely to cause him harm. “Just before Pranay’s murder, Maruthi Rao spoke to a top police official for about 15 minutes,” he alleged, stating that the accused, who earned crores of rupees through settlements, have connections with high profile people.

He urged KTR to give permission to install a statue of Pranay in Miryalaguda. The MRPS will organise demonstrations and candle light rallies from September 18 to 24, in protest against attacks against Dalits, he said.
