Honour Killing : 5 including Cong leader arrested

Miryalguda (Nalgonda): Police arrested Miryalguda town Congress president Karim in connection with honour killing of a Dalit youth Pranay whose last rites were performed in the presence of Dalit and political leaders on Sunday.

Pranay last rites were performed after his brother Ajay Kumar, who is doing MBBS in Ukrain reached Miryalguda town.

Large number of people, including kin, friends, leaders and activists of various political parties and Dalit organizations participated in funeral ceremony.

Police suspect involvement of old city rowdy sheeter in Pranay’s murder.

Police opined that Rs 10 lakh was paid to the offender, whereas Congress party town working president Karim’s friend Kasim played mediator role between Amrutha’s father Tirunagari Maruthi Rao and the attacker.

Police took Karim into their custody, so far the police have taken five persons into their custody including Amrutha’ father Maruthi Rao, Shravan Kumar, Karim and other two accused.

As per the sources, two police parties constituted for searching for the criminal who attacked with country made sword on Pranay outside the Jyothi Hospital in the town on Friday noon.

Miryalguda DSP Srinivas informed that police are investigating Pranay’s honuor killing from all angles.

Along with SC, ST atrocities Act other sections going to be slapped on the accused, he added.

He revealed that as many as eight persons involved in Pranay’s brutal murder.
