​Maheshwaram: Robbers decamped with bounty at Sri Padmavathi Goda Sametha Venkateswara Swamy temple and Ayyappa Swamy temple in Ameerpet village on the night of Sunday.

According to temple authorities Ayyappa Swamy ‘panchaloha’ idol weighing 98 Kg, temple bell weighing 30 Kg, three procession idols, two silver crowns, ‘sudarsana chakram’ and three ‘namalu’ of Venkateshwara Swamy, ‘vaddanam’, ‘talibottu’ and ‘mettelu’ of goddess and cash from two hundis were robbed. Chief priest of the temple Prem Kumar Sarma who performed duties on Saturday, didn’t turn to temple on Sunday.

He came on Monday morning and noticed the locks of the temple broken and doors opened. Sarma immediately called Maheshwaram police and informed them about the robbery. They came to the spot and informed to Ibrahimpatnam ACP. The ACP along with dog squad and clues team inspected the site.

LB Nagar DCP (crime) Nagaraju, Additional DCP Srinivas also visited the place. They inquired villagers about the robbery, positions of CCTV cameras and various routes leading to the temple.
