Hyderabad: In a surprise of sorts, the name of former speaker KR Suresh Reddy, who recently switched loyalties to Telangana Rashtra Samithi, has figured in the poll committees of the Telangana Congress.
However, the AICC which made the appointments corrected the mistake and issued clarification after deleting the name of Suresh Reddy. His name was also included in the Coordination Committee and other panels. With the appointment of the committees, the exercise on them lasted for few months had reached to the conclusion. The AICC which has taken over the appointments exercise has made the appointments on Wednesday.
The appointments have sprung up some surprises among the leaders of the party. Though it has been expected that Revanth Reddy would be made chairman of the Campaign Committee, finally the post was given to Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Revanth has been named as working president along with Ponnam Prabhakar.
Actress Vijayashanti, who was miffed for not offering any post, was met by AICC secretaries at her residence on Wednesday and was cajoled. Her appointment as star campaigner has been made late in the night. According to party leaders, the high command has tried to strike a balance in stitching the committees and appease all groups in the organisation.
The AICC has yielded to immense lobbying of the party leaders in the past few months. Though it has been speculated that Madhu Yashki Goud would get a prominent post, the AICC denied the opportunity to him and placed him in few committees. Party leaders also expressed surprise over the jumbo size of the Campaign Committee. Meanwhile, AICC made late night appointments and announced the name of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as chairman of the Publicity Committee. Senior leader V Hanumantha Rao got a raw deal.
