Hyderabad: In the wake of indications that elections to Telangana Assembly are likely to be held between November 15 and 20 in two phases, Telangana Chief Minister KCR on Wednesday called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and discussed issues related to the polls.

According to reliable sources, the state government has inputs that the notification for the Assembly elections might be issued on October 5 or 6 to pave way for early elections. As the Judgement Day is fast approaching, KCR spent about two hours with the Governor discussing among others, TRS poll campaign strategy and the fresh political developments taking place in the state.

The care taker Chief Minister also apprised the Governor the circumstances that led to former legislator Konda Surekha, her husband Murali and tribal leader Ramesh Rathod quitting the TRS and joining the Cong.

KCR reportedly informed Governor that the monsoon session of the Telangana Legislative Council will be held for only one day. The session will pay homage to the departed leaders -- former Prime Minister Vajpayee, former Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi and former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. Soon after mourning the deaths, the Council will adjourn sine die.

KCR is also likely to attend the session. The TRS supremo is understood to have informed the Governor about his campaign schedule mainly the public meetings to be kick-started from Nizamabad – the "fiefdom" of his daughter and MP K Kavitha, on October 3. The TRS is planning to mobilise at least 3 lakh people for the public meetings being organised in the erstwhile district headquarters.

After winding up the public meetings in the district headquarters, KCR will embark on a visit to all assembly constituencies and address local public meetings. Sources said that the Chief Minister explained Narasimhan the state’s preparedness for the conduct of early assembly elections.
