Hyderabad: As a part of Wildlife Education and Awareness Programme and on the eve of ‘64th Wildlife Week Celebration - 2018’, educational activities were organised at Nehru Zoological Park on Wednesday. The activities included drawing and essay writing competitions for the school children.
About 320 students from 23 schools including 21 government and 2 private schools participated in the competitions. Drawing competition under three categories senior, junior and sub-junior level were held on topics - Forest ecosystem, Global warming and Your favourite animal and bird. Similarly, in essay writing competition the topics - Importance of bio diversity, tiger reserves in Telangana State and State animal and bird.
The programme was conducted at Bio-scope hall and in Natural History Museum from 10.30 am to 1 pm. Later, lunch was also arranged for the participants and the staff of the schools. The winners will be declared on October 5 and distribution of prizes will be on October 6, the Zoo Day. Speaking on the occasion N Kshitija, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, said that zoo was in the forefront in promoting the wildlife and conservation awareness programmes and thanked all the participants in this awareness programme and making it successful.
Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, ACF, G Gnyaneshwar, M Bhavani Shankar, Assistant Curators, H M Hanifulla, PRO, Nehru Zoological Park, M Sandeep, Laxmi Narayan, Biologists of Zoo were instrumental in successful conduct of the programme.
