Khammam: As many as two lakh farmers will take part in the protest padayatra in New Delhi against the anti-farmer policies of Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre, informed Telangana Rythu Sangham national vice-president, Sarampalli Malla Reddy here on Thursday.

The district body meeting of the association was held under the leadership of district president Bandi Ramesh at the association’s office in Khammam. Addressing the meeting, Malla Reddy alleged that the BJP government utterly failed in implementation of the recommendations made by the Swaminathan Commission and in sanctioning farm loans and various agricultural projects.

Several agitations and movements are taken up across the country under the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) against the anti-farmer’s policies adopted by the BJP government, he said.

Like Mahapada Yatra, which was taken out in Maharashtra recently, a padayatra will also be organised in New Delhi on November 28, 29 and 30 and will be participated by 2 lakh farmers from all corners of the country to protest against the anti-farmer policies of the central government.

The padayatra will highlight the failure of the government in implementing of the Swamination Commission recommendations. It will also try to impress upon the government to fix minimum support price of the farm produce, he said.

The State secretary of the association, Sagar alleged that the TRS government in Telangana is also behaving negligently in solving various issues related to the farming sector. It is behaving stubbornly towards tenant farmers by excluding them in the welfare schemes. All the tenant farmers in the State must teach TRS party a fitting lesson in the coming elections by supporting the candidate of BLF, he said.

Telangana Rythu Sangham leaders Ponnam Venkateshwar Rao, Thata Bhaskar Rao, Nunna Nageshwar Rao, Katta Gandhi, Mamindal Sanjeeva Reddu, Veerabhadram, Ramesh, Raja Babu and Narasimha Rao, among others were present on the occasion.
