Uttam unmasks Owaisi for seeking votes for TRS

​Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday strongly condemned MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi for asking Muslims to vote for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the next elections.
Addressing a press conference, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused Asaduddin Owaisi of misleading the entire Muslim community for his own vested interest. “Asaduddin Owaisi wants cases against his brother (Akbaruddin Owaisi) to be withdrawn. He also wants the government to give them prime land worth Rs 40 crore for just Rs four crore. Just for his personal gains, he is trying to mislead the entire Muslim community by asking them to support the TRS which is an ally of the BJP,” Uttam added.
“Should Muslims vote for the TRS, as it had voted for the BJP candidates in election of President and Vice-President of India? Poor Muslims were badly hurt due to demonetisation, GST and other moves taken by the BJP government. Should Muslims vote for the TRS as K Chandrashekar Rao had supported all those decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi? Should Muslims back the TRS as Chandrashekar Rao had supported the Modi government during the No-Confidence Motion?” Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned.
He wanted to know whether caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao granted judicial powers to the Wakf Board. He alleged that not a single yard or even inch of encroached Wakf property had been restored. Not even half of budget allocated for minorities' welfare had been spent in the last five years. Further, five Muslim youth were killed in an encounter at Alair and a SIT probe was ordered later.
The TPCC Chief said after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, Central government had brazenly reduced funding for minorities' welfare. Chandrashekar Rao never spoke against Modi regarding this issue. But, still Owaisi appeals for Muslims to votes for the TRS, he said. “Is it not a fact that Chandrashekar Rao had promised to develop Old City of Hyderabad as Istanbul? Has it happened? While Metro Rail has come in all other areas of Hyderabad, the Old City was deprived of this facility,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the caretaker Chief Minister had made an announcement in Assembly with much fanfare regarding establishment of a world-class Islamic Centre in Hyderabad. He spoke about the proposed Islamic Centre for about 10-15 minutes explaining its features. However, not even the foundation stone for the centre was laid.
He said, “Muslims all across the country are being targeted after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. People should realise that the 'Bada Bhai' (Big brother - PM Modi) is in Delhi and 'Chota Bhai' (Younger brother - KCR) is in Hyderabad.” Uttam Kumar Reddy also claimed that Chandrashekar Rao advanced the Assembly elections only to cheat Muslim community. “Chandrashekar Rao is expecting to win Assembly elections with the help of MIM by luring Muslim voters,” he added.
