Hyderabad: When you empower man, you would end up empowering an individual, but when you empower a woman you would be empowering the entire nation and humanity, said vice president M Venkaiah Naidu at the 14th convocation ceremony of the University College for Women, Koti on Wednesday.

Addressing the convocation as chief guest at the historic monument British Residency inside the college campus, vice president emphasized that the young graduates should understand the importance of education, as their future will be shaped by their education and the values inherited from their families and society. “They should leave their mark of excellence and must never remain mediocre and always try to push boundaries of performance,” he pointed out.

Stressing on the significance of mother tongue he asked the graduates to stay connected to their roots and never neglect or forget one’s mother tongue, parents, native place and teachers. He also spoke about the early Vedic period and stressed on the ‘Guru Sishya Parampara’ and to instill positive vibes. “We are one nation, one people and one land irrespective of religions and beliefs,” he concluded. He congratulated the young graduates and the entire staff for their efforts. He also met the students personally.

A number of members from the governing body were at the dais besides Mohmammed Ali, Deputy CM, Prof S Ramachandaram, vice chancellor Osmania University, Gopal Reddy the registrar of Osmania University, Prof M Kumar controller of examination Osmania University. The vice chancellor said that there was no short cut to success and hard work and determination would propel and power them to great heights. He also encouraged the girls and congratulated the gold medalist and the young graduates. Roja Rani the principal said that she was proud that the college handed over 900 degrees.
