AICC to deploy top guns to shore up campaign in TS

Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) would deploy national and senior leaders of the party from other States, where there are no elections, in Telangana State to help the party.

The AICC appointed Syed Nasir Hussain, Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka and AICC spokesperson, as convener of Telangana Congress media cell. Hussain visited Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday and had interactions with senior leaders.

TPCC official spokesperson Dasoju Sravan and other leaders would coordinate with Hussain in media activities. The AICC leader would stay in Hyderabad till the end of elections.

Speaking to the media informally, Nasir Hussain said several leaders of AICC would visit Hyderabad in the next few weeks and would participate in the campaign.

The leaders would address press conferences, street corner meetings, and organise pada yatras and public meetings in the State, he said.

He said that the leader would help educate the voters on national and State issues and also help candidates in intensify campaign.

He said that the AICC and other State leaders would go through the campaign and whenever required would meet the Election Commission officials to complain about the violation of Model Code of Conduct and other electoral issues.

The research unit of the Congress would provide data on the failure of the State government in implementation of election promises by the Central and State governments.
