City cardiologist takes part in Nigeria meet

Hyderabad: The CardioVascular Society of Nigeria has been conducting its annual conference for the past 47 years. It invites specialists in the field from across the globe to share their experiences and expertise with the medical community. This year’s conference was held in October at Kano in Nigeria. Dr K Sarat Chandra, a renowned Cardio Vascular specialist in India, was invited to deliver the keynote at the conference. Dr Chandra who delivered a lecture on BetaBlockers in the current cardiology practice gave invaluable insights into the various issues in the cardiovascular field.
The discussions centred on various issues like heart failure, hypertension and cardio pharmacology. Cardiovascular problems in Nigerians have shown a gradual increase in the recent past. This conference helped analyse and understand the developments which led to this epochal change. Dr Chandra, who has a vast experience in treating cardiovascular diseases, is at working as Consultant Cardiologist at Virinchi Hospital and Indo US Hospital Hyderabad. He is also a member in ACC Global Heart Failure Advisory Group and is the President of Cardiological Society of India.
