Sattupalli: The commitment and dedication shown towards development of constituency during his 10-year tenure as an MLA and winning the people’s confidence by being with them and solving their problems are giving confidence to Sandra Venkat Veeraiah to win third consecutive time in the upcoming elections on TDP ticket from Sattupalli.

Sattupalli Assembly constituency is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) in 2009. It is spread across Sattupalli, Penuballi, Kallur, Tallada and Vemsoor mandals. TDP won this Assembly seat five times and Congress four times since 1978. R&B Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao represented it thrice.

The constituency has been witnessing rapid industrial development in view of coal mining activities by the SCCL, besides abundant oil palm plantations. The works related to Rs110 crore Mega Food Park at Buggapadu for which TSIIC is the nodal agency, are also under progress.

In 1978 Assembly elections, former Chief Minister Jalagam Vengala Rao, contesting on Congress ticket, defeated noted people’s poet Kaloji Narayana Rao, who contested on Janata Party ticket by a margin of 22,619 votes.

In 2014 Assembly elections, former MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, contesting on TDP ticket, defeated Matta Dayanand , who contested on YSRCP ticket by a margin of 2,485 votes.

In a meeting held recently in Sattuppalli, Veeraiah said that all the developmental works which the TRS government is claiming to be carried out in its reign were actually taken place under the TDP rule.

He said many developmental works such as laying of CC roads and inter-linking roads in all villages, construction of drains, providing drinking water facilities and water for irrigation and establishment of mandal system done in the TDP ruel.

Besides, the TDP government waived loans, constructed community buildings for SCs and STs, opened government schools in tribal villages, constructed masjids and churches, allotted funds for temples, distributed seeds on subsidy and many more.

In addition it also established welfare hostels for students, constructed godowns, provided minimum support price for agricultural products, clothes to women, Rs 2 kg rice, Shaadikhanas for Muslims etc.

The TRS government had utterly failed in keeping up its poll promises and in implementation of various schemes it introduced. Fearing that the people would question them about their failures and unable to rule for five years, the TRS played a trick by dissolving the Assembly before nine months, he alleged.

Sandra is pinning all his hopes on the new political equations that emerged with the coming together of Congress, TDP, TJS and CPI and formation of Mahakutami along with the developmental works he carried out in the constituency during his period as MLA and is 100 per cent confident that the people would cast their vote to him by seeing his works and dedication shown towards development of the constituency.
