Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) senior leader KT Rama Rao on Saturday demanded that the Election Commission should crack the whip against AP Police sleuths who were moving freely in Telangana districts, indulging in distribution of money besides doing election surveys.
Arguing that Telangana is not in the jurisdiction of AP police, KTR said in no uncertain terms that TRS should not be held responsible if any untoward incident happened to AP policemen who were using foul methods to influence voters in favour of grand alliance partners. Addressing mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said his party delegation had submitted a memorandum on the illegal acts of AP cops along with proof, photos, names and phone numbers of three police constables to the Election Commission.
He also alleged that DSP Bose, who is in AP DGP office in Hyderabad, had called up police officials in Dharmapuri and directed them to release the three cops, who were caught by the public in Dharmapuri. KTR alleged that AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu was using his AP police machinery to distribute money directly to voters and candidates and Dharmapuri incident was a clear example.
Further, he said that Naidu was wasting money of the taxpayers in Andhra Pradesh for giving huge advertisements in electronic and print media in Telangana in view of elections and urged the Election Commission to take note of the happenings.
“We have said earlier that Naidu had decided to send Rs 500 crore from Andhra Pradesh into Telangana taking the help of police and ambulances. He is misusing the intelligence network also. The Election Commission should take serious note of this," he said. It is for this reason the TRS is demanding strict checking of vehicles being used by Uttam Kumar Reddy, L Ramana, Kodandaram and also KTR and other TRS leaders. No one should be spared by the police, he stressed.
Pointing out to the recovery of Rs 3 crore cash from engine of Uttam Kumar Reddy's vehicle in 2014 elections, KTR said there was no reason not to suspect a repeat by the TPCC chief. KTR alleged that AP intelligence sleuths in Hyderabad were in regular touch with L Ramana and A Revanth Reddy.
After the complaint was lodged by the TRS, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajat Kumar on Saturday sought an explanation from Andhra Pradesh DGP RP Thakur. After receiving a reply from Thakur, he said he will take appropriate action against the erring officials, who were found moving in some identified areas in Telangana in the guise of poll surveyors.
The TRS delegation led by party leader P Rajeshwar Reddy lodged the complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer.
