Malkajgiri: Ex-serviceman Gopu Ramana Reddy, who joined BJP on Friday, announced entering the poll fray as a rebel candidate on Sunday. Ramana Reddy after retirement had established a pharma company and took up social service activities, like conducting free medical camps and distributing medicines. At a press conference, Reddy said he had aspired for the BJP ticket from the Malkajgiri constituency but was denied the opportunity to contest.

Hence, he took the decision to contest on his own. The BJP rebel informed that he had conducted over 120 medical camps in one year, providing free services to the needy people. He claimed that during the last eight months he had provided medicines, treatment expenses to some journalists, while expressing anguish over local leaders not taking note of his gesture. Reddy expressed confidence of securing people’s support in the ensuing elections. He said he would shortly come out with his own manifesto.
