Hyderabad: Sister Nivedita’s 150th birth anniversary was celebrated on Saturday by the Vivekananda Kendra Kaushalam near here, with 220 students from Sadhana High School, Vijaya High School, Vivekananda High School and Zilla Parishad High School in Gajularamaram and Jeedimetla participating. Among those present were kendra’s Hyderabad Vibhag Sanchalak Ramaraju, Vibhag Sanghatak Deepak Khaire Nagar Pramukh Naveen, communication expert Bharath Thippa Reddy.

Addressing the students, kendra’s Prant Vyavastha Pramukh Bhaskar Sharma recalled that “Sister Nivedita, though a foreigner, had dedicated her life for India”. He advised the students to get inspired to do the same and more for their country.” The students resolved to serve the nation wholeheartedly. They first heard Swami Vivekananda’s world famous Chicago speech delivered at the World Parliament of Religions. They saw a show celebrating India’s contribution to the world. Groups of students discussed ‘noble thoughts’ and each presented the group’s view on how to strengthen the country and their duty towards it. They also pledged to do their best for the country.
