Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed Telangana government to regulate the vehicular traffic in the city.

The High Court observed that it had become a common sight to witness pedestrians struggling to cross busy roads, due to lack of foot over bridges and wide roads in Hyderabad to regulate traffic.

A bench of Chief Justice TB Radhakrishnan and Justice SC Bhatt, while taking up two separate letters written by retired professor Vipin Srivatsava of HCU and advocate Rapolu Telangana to constitute a committee of experts to streamline city traffic. He sought to know from the government steps being taken to control violators.

Promoting parent involvement in teen driving and educating them, the CJ, sought to know whether authorities were penalising parents whose children were caught rash driving. Fines should pinch and act as deterrents so that parents discourage their wards from riding bikes and encourage them to use public transport.
