Modi, KCR will change Constitution if voted to power again: Uttam
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee TPCC President Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BJP, and its secret ally TRS, would change the Constitution of India if they retain power in next elections
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the BJP, and its secret ally TRS, would change the Constitution of India if they retain power in next elections.
Addressing a meeting with leaders of Jamiatul Ulema-e-Hind at JUH office in Bagh Amberpet on Saturday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said while the Modi Government was suppressing the fundamental rights of minorities, KCR has been acting as "BJP's agent and Modi's chamcha". "Don't fall by KCR wearing Sherwani, speaking chaste Urdu or hosting Iftar parties. It is all eyewash meant to cheat Muslims," he cautioned.
"In the last 70 years, no one dared to question anyone what they eat, what is kept in their fridge, what they wear or whom they got married to. But what we have seen in the last four-and-a-half years under Prime Minister Narender Modi's regime causes personal pain and agony. We are totally against it," he said while alleging that minorities were being targeted across the country. "It is a dangerous trend for the entire nation. If BJP wins again, it will change the Constitution," he said.
Stating that he could prove KCR's nexus with BJP with evidence, Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that TRS supported the BJP candidates in the elections for President and Vice President of India. "KCR has played a major role in sending Hindutva faces to the Rashtrapati Bhavan," he said.
The TPCC Chief said KCR had advanced the Assembly elections only to cheat the Muslim community. "He wants to win Assembly elections with the help of MIM by taking Muslim votes. But in Lok Sabha elections, KCR wants to go with the BJP," he claimed.
Highlighting the failed promises of KCR, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS president made a promise at Shadnagar on April 19, 2014 that he would implement 12% Muslim reservation within four months after coming to power. "He dragged the issue for four years and now he has stopped talking about it. Have you ever found any truth in KCR's talk? KCR's promise on 12% Muslim quota was nothing but a tactic to cheat the community. TRS never raised the issue at a higher level even once," he said while adding that TRS has no mortal right to seek Muslim votes. KCR openly cheated the Muslims and the community must teach KCR a fitting lesson in next elections, he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the truth behind Alair encounter in which five Muslim youth were killed in April 2015 should come out. "No one has a right to kill anyone whatever may be their track record. Though what has happened could not be reversed, at least bring out the report to tell people the truth behind the incident," he said adding that KCR did not speak a single word so far on Alair encounter. He also slammed the BJP and TRS Governments for not going for appeal in the higher courts against the verdict of NIA Court which acquitted all accused in the Mecca Masjid blast case. KCR makes so many tall claims on minority welfare, but he is silent on Mecca Masjid blast case.
Furnishing figures of spending on welfare of minorities, he said despite Telangana being the richest State, only Rs. 3,000 crore out of Rs. 6.75 lakh crore budget of Telangana State were spent during the last four-and-a-half years by TRS Government. He said Muslims constitutes about 13% of State population and less than half-a-percent of total budget was spend on their welfare. Similarly, he said jobless Muslim youth were denied loans by the TRS Government with no single applicant benefitting from the loan-cum-subsidy scheme. He also condemned the TRS Government for not bringing Metro Rail project in the Old City. He said both KCR and Owaisi owe an apology and explanation to the people of Old City for this.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Wakf Board never got the promised judicial powers and not a single inch of encroached land was restored. He said sealing of entire Wakf Board office and later its opening without any enquiry or action remained a mystery. He also accused KCR of playing a cruel joke on Urdu speaking population by appointing Urdu Academy chairman four years and three months after becoming the Chief Minister and just five days before dissolving the Assembly. "As many as 80 minority institutions out of 92 were shut down under the rule of KCR who claims himself to be minority-friendly," he said.
The TPCC chief also wondered at MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi supporting TRS despite the fact that KCR was supporting BJP and Modi and not honouring any promises which he made with the minorities.
Uttam Kumar Reddy promised that the next Congress Government would introduce a Minorities Sub-Plan which would ensure allocation and spending of budget in proportionate to their population. He said education, employment and creation of self-employment opportunities for Muslim youth would be the top priority of next Congress Government. He also assured that the Congress party would never interfere in the Personal Laws. "It was the Congress party which stopped Triple Talaq Bill in Rajya Sabha. But TRS supported the BJP on the issue," he said.
"KCR is an agent of Modi and he cheated Muslims on multiple counts. If you want to protect the Constitution, rights of minorities and secularism, then vote for the Congress party in next Assembly election. Voting for TRS or MIM is like voting for BJP. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be the next Prime Minister of India and Congress party would always remain committed to the welfare and security of minorities," he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy admitted that some mistakes might have occurred during Congress regimes. However, he said those mistakes were not intentional, he said.
He said that the next Congress Government would be accessible and responsive. "The doors of Congress Chief Minister and ministers would always remain open for everyone. Muslims would be able to meet the CM or ministers anytime to express their grievances and concerns," he said.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Jamaitul Ulema-e-Hind Telangana and AP Presdient Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed said that the JUH had over 6.72 lakh members across Telangana State with its branches in every mandal and habitation. He said that JUH was presenting the community's agenda before the political parties while asking them to accept it to seek their support. The major demands include non-interference in Personal Laws of all communities, measures to defend 4% Muslim reservation, making public the report of Alair encounter and action against the guilty officials, protection of Wakf properties, challenging verdict of NIA court in Mecca Masjid blast case in a higher court, non-interference in the functioning of Deeni Madarsas and deployment of Muslim teachers in the residential schools being run by the State Government.
Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society Secretary Zafar Javeed and senior leaders of Congress party were also present in the meeting which was attended by district unit presidents and other representatives of JUH from across Telangana State.
