Hyderabad: Former Minister and Congress senior leader Jalagam Prasada Rao joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Saturday. Prasad Rao and his followers were welcomed by caretaker Ministers K T Rama Rao and Tummala Nageswara Rao at a programme held at Telangana Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasada Rao said that he liked the TRS governance and its development schemes in last four and half years and hence took the decision to join the party. People of the State should back the party which is striving for their welfare and development, he felt. The TRS should win in all 10 seats in Khammam district irrespective of who the candidates are, Prasada Rao said.
He warned that Telangana interests will be at stake if Mahakutami is voted to power. Chandrababu will try to take Krishna waters to AP, the senior leader alleged.
Tummala said that he held Prasada Rao in high esteem although both have been political rivals for long in Khammam district. His entry into the party as everybody was aware of his strength and influence in Khammam district, Tummala said.
Meanwhile, KTR hoped that TRS would romp home in ten seats in Khammam district now that Prasada Rao joined the pink party. The TRS would utilise the vast experience, knowledge and suggestions of Prasada Rao for serving people better, he added.
