Rajendranagar: Though the electricity employees of the state have upper an hand over the employees of other departments in receiving the benefits of pay revision commission, the artisans (earlier known as contract employees) of the same department are still an unhappy lot, as the government has failed to treat them on a par with the regular employees. The resentment was clearly evident at the meeting held here recently to elect the regional body of the Telangana Electricity Employee 1104 union wherein the artisans were seen unhappy with the government’s preferential attitude for one over other. Recently, the artisans (contract employees) stage an indefinite strike that lasted for more than 15 days excreting pressure on the government to concede some of the demands.

“Among other demands the regularization of services was the primary one put before the government for approval. However, the government has picks up simple demands barring the core issue of regularizing the services of the artisans that made them feel their services have been disapproved and their rights were violated. On the other hand, the regular employees of the electricity department are continued to receive the blessings of the government more than the employees of other departments. Having associated with the same department but with a different attitude made the artisans feel diminished and dejected”, said Abdul Ubaid Taimur Divisional Secretary Contract Employees (Artisans) TEE 1104 union Rajendranagar Division who represents more than 300 artisans in the union.

“We are toiling hard from the dawn to dusk and in some cases round the clock to ensure uninterrupted power supply to every segment in the state like commercial, industrial, agriculture and domestic consumers regardless of the risk to our lives but what we are getting in return is very disappointing and hard to accept,” he bemoaned. Earlier the regional election of Telangana Electricity Employees 1104 Union Rajendernagar Circle held at GRK Garden Function Hall Bandlaguda under the chairmanship of Union General Secretary Sai Babu.

At this occasion a regional body of Rajendarnagar Circle, Ranga Reddy District has elected unanimously. With a support of majority of the employees a senior leader of the union Lakshmi Narayana Goud has been appointed as President and Abdul Hameed as Regional Secretary. Rajendra has begged the post of Regional Working President while Venugopal has elected as Regional Addl. Secretary of the union. State Advisor R Janardhan Reddy and SE Operations Rajendernagar Murlikrishna were the Guests of Honours who supervised the entire process.
