Raging bulls damage Deputy Chief Minister’s convoy

Musheerabad: The annual ‘Sadr celebrations’, scheduled to kick off on Friday, is never short of excitement and drama. A few days before the celebrations, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the specially-built shed for the bulls. It has been a ritual of sort to invite leaders to have a personal look and interaction with the majestic animals before the celebrations kick off. However, this year, it took an ugly turn when the bulls, especially two of them, went berserk and damaged the vehicles of minister’s convoy. The damage would have been far greater if not for the timely intervention of the minister’s staff who were able to bring normalcy.

It all started when two huge well-bred bulls, with reasons unknown to mankind, locked their horns and went out of control. Even before people could comprehend the situation, the raging bulls turned the shed into a fighting arena and finding it short, ventured into the area where the deputy chief minister’s entire convoy was parked. The huge bulls with eyes locked at each other take backsteps and then surge with a great force trying to gore each other. They suddenly raise their fore legs and attack each other, this instils nothing but a sense of fear in those present near the fighting bovines. Without giving a second thought or second look at the animals, people are seen running helter-skelter to save their skins.

Every year, the Yadav community spends lakhs of rupees to organise Sadr on a grand scale. The connoisseur of all eyes, ‘Shahenshah’ a bull owned by general secretary of all India Yadav Association Edla Hari Babu Yadav, stole the limelight. This six-year-old bull weighs around 1,600 kg and is 15-feet long and 7-feet in height. It is fed with 15 kg of apples, 30 litres of milk, 2 kgs of green and yellow gram, jaggery, and different kinds of protein food. It is massaged with 1.5 liters of mustard oil daily and is taken for 5 km walk every day. Rs 2000-3000 is daily spent to feed the bull. Two people are specially appointed to take care of Shahenshah. Its sperm has lot of demand in the market and is collected in small tubes. Shahenshah, along with two others Raja and Darasingh, which are specially brought from Haryana for Sadr celebrations are showcased at Sattar Bagh.

Caretaker deputy chief minister of Telangana, Mahmood Ali visited Sattar Bagh to see the bulls. He was accompanied by TRS state BC cell president Muta Gopal. Later, while people were taking pictures of the bulls, two of them fought against each other much to the amusement of people. It led to people running helter-skelter and some vehicles of minister convoy were also damaged. Eventually, organisers managed to control the animals with the help of 20 to 30 persons.
