Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cybercrime police on Friday arrested one on charges of harassment and duping a woman to the tune of Rs 90,000. According to the police, the accused K Navalkishore Varma (alias Emir Ajar Malik, 30) a resident of RK Hegde Nagar in Bengaluru created a fake profile on Muslims divorcee matrimonial site and trapped women.

The victim uploaded her profile on a Muslim divorce matrimony site for appropriate alliance, where she came across the profile of the accused. The accused later contacted the victim over the phone and gained her confidence while posing as a CEO of an Interior Designing Company in Bengaluru.

Believing him, the victim along with her family went to Bengaluru to perform some rituals to finalise the marriage alliance. Taking advantage of the developments, the accused requested the victim to arrange some money as he was facing financial difficulties. Believing his words, the victim transferred Rs 90,000 to his account on different dates. Following which the accused exploited her physically and later stopped responding to her calls.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered against him under sections 417, 419, 420 IPC & Section 66 (C&D) of IT Act, police arrested him and seized a mobile phone from his position. The accused allegedly trapped women using matrimonial websites and lived with them in a live-in relationship and cheated them for money.
