Rajendranagar: The newly established Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) lab at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) was inaugurated by its Vice Chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao at its campus on Monday. The lab is established on the premises of Water Technology Center, Rajendranagar. National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) has provided the guidance for establishing of new RS & GIS lab in the university.

Later, the vice-chancellor also inaugurated a one-day awareness-cum-orientation training on ‘Application of Geo spatial Technology for Agriculture Development and Research to the Faculty’ for research scholars at WTC conference Hall in the university. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor advised the research scholars, faculty and young scientists of the university to choose societal-relevant research problems and to solve the problems by which new technologies and research would help the farmers at large. NRSC Deputy Director Dr PVN Rao, the head of agriculture wing at NRSC, Dr CS Murthy, Director of Research Dr Jagadeeshwar and the Director of Water Technology Center, Dr Umadevi, were also present at the inaugural programme.
