​Hyderabad: Giving credit to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for speaking truth for the first time when he recently said that he would take rest if he loses the elections, All-India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said this is what is going to happen after the polls.
Addressing public meetings at Armoor, Bhupalpally and Parigi as part of his second day tour in the state to campaign on behalf of the party, Rahul said that KCR means ‘Khavo Commission Rao’. The young Congress leader said that the state was made to go bankrupt with unbridled borrowing and this money has been made to make the family of the Chief Minister rich. He said that as much as Rs 2.2 lakh crore had been borrowed and each person in the state had to bear a burden about Rs 2.5 lakh. He alleged that the state which has been formed to ensure peoples’ rights on ‘Neellu, Nidhulu and Niyamakalu’, the Chief Minister redesigned the projects to misuse public money.
Irrigation facilities have been denied and the unemployed did not get jobs. Rahul said that though it has been expected that Chandrasekhar Rao would ensure accomplishment of aspirations of the people, he failed to keep at least one promise.
He said that people of Armoor have been facing several problems and the farmers were deprived of minimum support price to their produce. He alleged that the farmers who sought MSP for their produce were beaten up by the police. The oustees of the land were not paid proper compensation and the act to prevent acquisition of land without the consent of the farmers was banned in the state and the lands were acquired forcibly.
Rahul said that Chandrasekhar Rao and his daughter K Kavitha have promised establishment of turmeric board but did not bother to keep it. The Congress-led Praja Front government would solve all the issues of the farmers as soon as it comes to power. The AICC president promised that the ‘Gabbar Sing Tax’ (Goods and Services Tax) would be reviewed and the burden of GST on the beedi workers and contractors would be brought down.
Ridiculing the Chief Minister for his statement on taking rest if defeated, Rahul said that the Chief Minister had a palatial building worth Rs 300 crore to take rest but the poor were denied double bedroom houses. He said that though the 2BHK houses have been promised to 2.6 lakhs even 5,000 units were not constructed. He said that while the Nizam Sugar Factory needed Rs 100 crore for revival it was denied that amount and the Chief Minister got Rs 300 crore-worth residence constructed.
Rahul promised that the Congress-led government, after coming to power, would solve the issues of the Gulf migrants and a fund of Rs 500 crore would be established for their welfare. Speaking at the public meeting at Parigi, Rahul said that the Congress-led alliance government, would revive Pranahitha- Chevella project and Palamuru– Rang Reddy project would also be constructed. He alleged that under the Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, the government has given cosmetic touch to the old tanks by painting them with colours. He said that the number of suicides in Telangana have risen after Chandrasekhar Rao assumed power. He promised that the Congress-led government would give MSP to farm produce and would waive off crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh. He said that turmeric would be given Rs 10,000 as MSP per quintal.
Rahul Gandhi promised that the Vikarabad– Parigi– Makthal railway line would be granted. He said that the Gram Panchayats would be given powers and old-age pension would be raised to Rs 2,000 per month. He promised that the unemployed would be given Rs 3,000 per month as allowance and the youth would be provided with training to get self-employment. He alleged that the Chief Minister has deceived the tribes and minorities on giving reservations. Rahul promised that the rights of the tribes would be protected when Congress comes to power. The tribes would be restored with their rights on ‘Jal, Jangal and Zameen’. He alleged that Chandrasekhar Rao and Narendra Modi have been cheating the people and their tactics in this regard were similar.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress-led Front would give one lakh jobs in the very first year. He said that the fee reimbursement dues would be released. He said that teacher recruitment would be held as per the old DSC system and a mega DSC would be held at the earliest. TJS president M Kodandaram, noted balldeer Gadar and other leaders participated in the Armoor public meeting.
