The State level sports and games meet, Josh 2018 organised by TMREIS Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society concluded amidst fanfare on Thursday

Hyderabad: The State level sports and games meet, ‘Josh 2018’ organised by TMREIS (Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society) concluded amidst fanfare on Thursday. The winners and best performing players of ‘District Level Sports Games Meet’ were invited to participate in TMREIS state level sports and games meet ‘Josh 2018’ organised at GMC Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli, from November 26 to 29. The best talented students identified in the Josh meet will be further groomed by providing special coaching by talented professional coaches to enhance their sporting skills and prepare them for the next level.

According to officials, as an initiative to develop the sporting skills and to identify best talent, ‘district level sports and games meets’ were organized for the students of all the (204) TMR Schools at district head quarters of erstwhile districts from October 9 to 11. They organized competitions in volley ball, kabaddi, kho - kho, hand ball, badminton, foot ball, chess, tennikoit, wrestling and athletics.

A Dinakar Babu, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Sports Authority of Telangana State participated in the Josh 2018 as Chief Guest and launched the event in a colourful opening ceremony on November 26. He offered his support to TMREIS in bringing out National and International talent. Ramesh Nagapuri, Dronacharya Awardee participated as Guest of Honour and the Secretary, TMREIS were also present in the event. During the four days of the Sports Meet, students took part in all the events and were awarded with prizes. Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka, secretary to government, Minorities Welfare Department gave away prizes to winners and best performing teams in the valedictory function on Thursday.

B Shafiullah, secretary, TMREIS, informed that Government of Telangana has established 204 Minority Residential Schools and 12 Junior Colleges with an aim to provide high quality free education with high class amenities to the poorest of the poor children from the minority community. “The ultimate goal of TMREIS is to strive for all round development of its students. Sports and Games play vital role in overall development of students and to generate sportsman spirit to face future challenges. TMREIS is also aiming for preparing their students to represent in district, and State level and National and International events,” he said.
