Musheerabad: Pharmacy doctors’ welfare association has urged political parties to utilise the services of pharmacy doctors to build a healthy Telangana. They staged a protest at Dharna Chowk on Sunday demanding employment.

The association members said that pharmacy doctor course was introduced in the year 2008 primarily to provide better healthcare services comparable to those provided in developed nations such as US and UK. Due to poor doctor-patient ratio, people of the state are unable to get quality health care services, they said. Every year, 2000 new pharmacy doctors are coming out of institutions but the government has failed to utilize their services, they said. They demanded government to appoint pharmacy doctors in government hospitals to improve the quality of healthcare services.

The government should ensure one pharmacy doctor for 50 beds, they demanded. They appealed the government to act based on the report issues as per GO 515 which was issued in 2015 and take necessary measures to employ pharmacy doctors in various government departments such as drug inspector, drug controller and others. Among those who participated in the protest were Dr Rupa, Dr Naresh, Dr Kaushik, Dr Sushma and others.
